Pup (Guards of Folsom) by SJD Peterson
PUP (GUARDS OF FOLSOM) BY SJD PETERSON
*Warning- This book is not for everyone. It is a M/M, BDSM, Erotic romance.*
Micah “Pup” Slayde knows he wants Tackett Austin the moment he lays eyes on him in the Guards of Folsom. Micah wants to have purpose, to be taken care of, and to take care of his Dom—wants to trust him completely, live for him, belong to him. To become his everything. Micah is sure Tackett is the one. The problem is, in order to be the perfect sub, he needs to stay focused, and that’s not easy for Micah, who suffers from what he refers to as a “broken brain.” Focus and adult attention deficit disorder rarely coexist.
Ever since Ty Callahan and Blake Henderson’s collaring ceremony, Tackett’s been thinking too much about his own loneliness. Even though Ty introduces Micah and urges Tackett to give him a try, Tackett isn’t so easily convinced. He’s spent his life pursuing a successful business career, and the subs he dominates almost never enjoy the kiss of his leather twice. Twenty years Micah’s senior, Tackett has no interest in taking on and taming such a young and naughty sub—but it’s difficult to resist such an adorable pup when he begs.
My thoughts-
I enjoyed this book. If you enjoy m/m bdsm romance this is a good find.
The start of the book really had me thinking this might be more graphic and detailed then it turned out to be.
Tackett is feeling his age. His friends have started to couple up and leaving him more alone. He enjoys the club he is a member of but something is missing.
Tackett goes back and forth with his feelings for Micah. It is a good look at his conflict and emotion mess.
But it is really Micah who really makes this story. Yes he can be a brat but he knows what he wants. And is determined to get there.
There is an age gap between the two. Doesn't bother me but some of the time Tackett can seem like an ass. It is part of his charm but I did want to smack him upside the head, lol.
What I really like about this book is that it was well written and showed lots of emotions. And I like the fact that in this book Tackett (the Dom) doesn't just know everything in the world. He has doubt in himself. So many books show the (sub) struggling but never what the (Dom) goes through.
Bravo to the author for showing this other side.
This looks to be part of a series. The first book but while reading I found out that it is actually a spin off series from one of the authors other series.
I can't tell you whether or not to read the other series (Whispering Pines Ranch) first or not as I have not but I can tell you that while I haven't read the other series I still enjoyed the start of this one. I will look out for more as I am interested in seeing what goes on with the remodeling with the club.
I do recommend this book with the warning that it contain D/s scenes.

Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts
The Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts
Books in the Trilogy: Morrigan's Cross (Book 1) Dance of the Gods (Book 2) Valley of Silence (Book 3)
A battle is brewing between the forces of good and evil, as Lilith, the most powerful vampire in the world, gathers her dark minions around her. The goddess Morrigan rises up to stop her--and with her, a circle of six.
Book 1 Morrigan's Cross: In the last days of high summer, with lightning striking blue in a black sky, the sorcerer stood on a high cliff overlooking the raging sea...
Belting out his grief into the storm, Hoyt Mac Cionaoith rails against the evil that has torn his twin brother from their family's embrace. Her name is Lilith. Existing for over a thousand years, she has lured countless men to an immortal doom with her soul-stealing kiss. But now, this woman known as vampire will stop at nothing until she rules this world—and those beyond it...
Hoyt is no match for the dark siren. But his powers come from the goddess Morrigan, and it is through her that he will get his chance at vengeance. At Morrigan's charge, he must gather five others to form a ring of power strong enough to overcome Lilith. A circle of six: himself, the witch, the warrior, the scholar, the one of many forms and the one he's lost. And it is in this circle, hundreds of years in the future, where Hoyt will learn how strong his spirit—and his heart—have become...
Book 2 Dance of the Gods: As the circle of six prepare for their final clash with the dark army of the vampire Lilith, the battleground shifts. In Ireland, a stone circle serves as the portal to another land and an ancient time.
It is in Geall that all will meet their fates—the sorcerer, the witch, the warrior, the scholar, the one of many forms and the one who was lost. And as their courage is tested, hearts will bond as never before ...
Book 3 Valley of Silence:
Having traveled through the Dance of the Gods to the land of Geall, the circle finds themselves convincing then training the people of Geall to defeat Lilith’s vampire army. The Valley of Silence is a forbidding place for the battle of all battles, but the circle continues to prepare through magic and a few early stakeouts that test their strength individually and as a team.
Moira finds herself playing the roles of warrior and royal, as she follows the tradition of her people and prepares to take the crown before leading them into battle. And if that isn’t enough, she finds her thoughts turning to Cian more often than not.
So what’s a chaste and intelligent young woman to do when given less than a month with the man she loves, who’s not a man, but a vampire? And how will the people of Geall fare against an army of blood-thirsty vampires who have had centuries to prepare?
My Thoughts- I wasn't sure about reviewing this series. I figured those who know Nora Roberts have probably already read it and those who haven't... well why not.
But because I just re-read this entire series I thought why not. So here is the review.
The last book Valley of Silence is my favorite in the series. But Moira and Cain were my favorite characters from the start.
This is one of the few paranormal books from Nora Roberts. Now let me say this. Nora Roberts is not a must buy for me. So many of the books are sappy romance that are always well written but not my cup of tea. However, J. D. Robb is always a must read for me. And yes I do know they are the same person.
I like the characters, plots, and emotion in the Death series by J.D. Robb and I believe that is why I like this series.
This series was well put together and the trilogy followed along perfectly. Plus it has all of my favorite elements. Vampires, witches, shape-shifters, and more.
This is the type of book that got me into writing. Creating a world that is both unique and familiar. We follow along with the six chosen people who will end up saving us all.
If you have not read this series I really think you should. The paranormal aspect was artfully done and the storyline a masterpiece. Each book concentrates on two characters coming together while preparing to battle evil aka Lilith. We learn and grow as they come along and learn to love and fight.
I do recommend this trilogy for any paranormal fan. Re-read April 2013.

Touch and Geaux by Abigail Roux
Touch and Geaux by Abigail Roux ( Book 7 in the Cut and Run series)
About the book- After having their faces plastered across the news during a high-profile case, FBI Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett have become more useful to the Bureau posing for photo ops than working undercover. Just as Zane is beginning to consider retirement a viable option, Ty receives a distress call from a friend, leading them to a city rife with echoes from the past.
New Orleans wears its history on its streets, and it’s the one place Ty’s face could get him killed. Surrounded by trouble as soon as they land, Ty and Zane are swiftly confronted with a past from which Ty can’t hide—one with a surprising connection to Zane’s.
As threats close in from all directions, both men must come to terms with the lives they’ve led and the lies they’ve told. They soon discover that not all their secrets are out yet, and nothing lasts forever.
My thoughts- This is the seventh book in the series and a must read for me. I enjoy mystery/ suspense books. This series has followed the lives and careers of Agent Ty Grady and Zane Garrett. I do suggest that you read the books in order. It will add so much more to the stories.
The books are very well written. They have a plot that can carry the book from start to finish. That's a little rare now a days. So many books build up and up and then let you down in the end. That is not the case to any of the books in this series.
While I enjoy the writing style it is really the relationship between Ty and Zane that keeps me on the edge of my seat and wanting more.
This is a male male book. The two main characters are lovers. If you are not comfortable with that pairing this book is not for you. However I believe that you are missing out on something if that keeps you from buying the book.
The adventure and action is just so great that I believe most everyone would enjoy these books.
In Touch and Geaux Ty and Zane get tricked into taking a trip and seeing Ty's old military team. Once there it is obvious that someone is out to get them.
This book answers some questions that have deepen over the series. We really get to know Ty's friends and look back at his early military career and how he got his start in special ops.
We also see Zane struggle with some huge issues that TY has been hiding.
I went through every emotion while reading this story. I laughed, I cried, got pissed off, and had my heart broken and repaired. While I have enjoyed the previous books in the series this may be the most well rounded. Although I cannot pick a favorite book in the series. Trust me I have tried. It just has not been possible. Really pulls you in until you finish it.
Oh, and speaking of the ending. OMG! I can't believe it ended like that!!!! But I don't want to ruin it for you.
I highly recommend this book. The entire series actually. Read this book April 2013.
Books in the Cut and Run series:
Book 1- Cut and Run
Book 2- Sticks and Stones
Book 3- Fish and Chips
Book 4- Divide and Conquer
Book 5- Armed and Dangerous
Book 6- Stars and Stripes
So if you haven't tried out this series I do suggest you give it a try. It doesn't get much better!

Welcome
Welcome! To my new blog site!
I am happy to have you here. This is a new page where I can post all of my reviews for books that I enjoy or have enjoyed.
I used to post reviews on my author blog but decided to keep my writing and my love for reading separate.
So here I will give you my honest review on books in my read and to be read pile. I will try to connect you with books I think you will enjoy.
Keep in mine- as an author myself I will not write reviews that will trash another author or book. I don't think that helps anyone. Putting months a years into a book is hard. I will however tell you if I did not enjoy a book but never will I bad mouth it.
I am interested in your own thoughts. Please feel free to let me know if you have enjoyed a book, suggest a book to others, and start discussions. You never know where you might find that next favorite book.
A little about me:
I am a thirty-four mother of one. I am happily married and other than my daughter we have three Labrador retrievers that we consider our children. You will get to meet Taz, Belle, and Scrappy as we continue our journey.
I am also an author of paranormal and romance books. I have eighteen books currently released with two more being released in May 2013. My series The Were Chronicles has hit the best seller lists at Total-E-Bound, all romance ebooks, and amazon.
